Common Shares

A common share is a voting share at the meeting of shareholders. It also confers the right to obtain a dividend payment when the company does so. However, the dividends payable are generally calculated after the dividends are reserved for preferred shareholders. A common share is generally a share that confers the right to vote, the right to dividends and the right to capital gains without privileges or restrictions.
